General Accountabilities:

  • Assisting with the development and preparation of financial & business plans, investment plans and other similar submissions.
  • Consolidate, gather and analyze financial and other business information and develop, produce and maintain budgetary and reporting reports and systems.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of programs and procedures for F&RE business functions.
  • Provide support and advice to the Manager, Business and Strategic Planning regarding the procedures and requirements for planning, budgeting and reporting of financials and other relevant reporting for the division.
  • Participate in improving and developing business and information systems, ensuring adequate financial and internal controls are in place for F&RE.
  • Assist with business processes and financial models to improve efficiency and decision-making associated with real estate and facilities programs.
  • Assist with the development of financial modeling for business cases and reporting to support decision-making.

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with the project teams.
  • Ability to apply financial techniques (such as cost/benefit analysis, real estate economics and financial tracking i.e. budget, forecast, accruals) to ensure reporting and analytics deliverables can be met correctly, efficiently and on time.
  • Requires the ability to multi-task medium to complex financial and reporting requests on a time-sensitive basis.
  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently or in a team setting and capable of engaging in work with minimum supervision to complete assigned tasks to meet business objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, break them down into manageable tasks and implement solutions.

Selection Criteria:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
  • Knowledge of business/project management concepts, audit/investigation techniques, data analysis and continuous improvement approaches.
  • Knowledge of the real estate industry and how real estate financials are reported and monitored would be an asset.
  • Experience with SAP is an asset, especially FI/CO modules and Project Systems.
  • Experience in working with databases, data management, analysis and reporting is an asset.
  • Previous school, volunteer or career development in the area of Real Estate Finance would be an asset.
  • A 3rd or 4th year student in a finance program, Real Estate program or Urban and Regional Planning/Geography program.

In this role you will:

  • Develop skills for real estate accounting.
  • Learn how to support business decisions through financial analysis.
  • Develop communication and presentation skills.
