Children’s Program Assistant

Reports to: Children’s Pastor
Status: Full Time (May to August 2025)
The Children’s Program Assistant will assist our Children’s Summer Camp Director and help to lead our summer day camp. They will also assist with children events/programs including our Sunday children’s programs.
Major Responsibilities:
- Plan and develop programs
- Define summer internship and program goals
- Develop and conduct systems for recruiting campers
- Gather and prepare materials needed for camp
- Develop the worship/music component for summer day camp and Sunday mornings
- Recruit volunteers. Prepare and conduct pre-camp staff training
- Help with volunteer and staff evaluations and “check-in” meetings
- Assist in managing day-to-day functions of camp life
- Monitor safety procedures as they pertain to the supervision of all campers
- Maintain an atmosphere for developing good morale and healthy mentorship
- Assist with Jr. Youth Premix (Overnight) and Jr. Youth Camp (Overnight)
- Other duties as assigned by Children’s Pastor
Qualifications:
- Deep and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ
- Servant heart and teachable
- Supports the Shared Mandate and Statement of Faithof The Peoples Church
- A passion to help all children discover Jesus
- Minimum 2 years working experience in a camp setting
- Minimum 18 years old
- Proven ability to supervise staff and campers
- Strong leadership, administrative, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Ability to plan, develop, organize and carry out camp programs effectively
- Team player with a positive attitude
- First Aid/CPR Training Preferred
Working Conditions:
- Vulnerability Sector clearance required
- Interact with others (children, parents, volunteers, staff) regularly
- Full time (May to August) – Sundays, 2 overnight weeks for Jr. Youth PreMix and Jr. Youth Camp, occasional Friday nights required
- Independent and teamwork, occasional work from home
