Job Description: Structural Engineering Co-op at HDR

HDR is seeking motivated engineering students for a four-month (or longer) placement at our downtown Toronto office. In this role, you’ll work on various projects related to building structural systems, gaining exposure to all aspects of the building engineering industry.

As part of our team, you’ll receive mentorship and support from experienced professionals and have opportunities to collaborate with subject matter experts across the company.

Responsibilities

• Participate in real-world projects and contribute to design and analysis tasks
• Engage with recent graduates and company leaders through mentoring programs
• Apply engineering techniques and perform design calculations for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures
• Create sketches and drawings to communicate design concepts
• Review documents and support construction activities through field reviews and reports
• Assist in site investigations and other related duties

Qualifications

Preferred

• 2+ years completed towards degree with GPA 3.0+
• Knowledge of relevant software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RESA3D, RAM
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
• Experience with engineering principles for structural systems

Required

• Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
