We are seeking an Equity Investment Intern to assist in investment research activities for our Small Cap Equity Team. Pender’s Small Cap Team takes a private equity approach to public markets, considering each investment from the perspective of a business owner, undertaking deep fundamental analysis before making an investment and monitoring our investment thesis during ownership. PenderFund is based in Vancouver, with the work term occurring in the office as well as remotely. The successful candidate will help identify and evaluate investment opportunities, assist with research projects and support the team in portfolio maintenance.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Research fundamental aspects of businesses we own or are evaluating for potential investment
  • Support the equity team by undertaking research and analysis on special projects
  • Participate in team meetings where investment ideas, insights and topics are discussed
  • Participate in research meetings involving interviews with company management teams
  • Prepare and maintain fundamental company and industry research reports and investment models

The successful candidate must have:

  • Strong interest in investment management,
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field of study
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong work ethic and capacity
