WHERE YOU COME INWe are looking for a Mass Marketing Intern to join our Brand & Integrated Marketing team at Make-A-Wish® Canada. Working with the Mass Marketing & Digital team and reporting to the Manager of Annual Giving, this internship provides an opportunity to work closely with a team of professionals in the nonprofit sector, gaining hands-on experience in mass & direct mail fundraising and marketing.This role is based out of our office in Toronto (North York).This is a full-time summer internship at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and is on a hybrid model (2 days in office/3 days work from home office). The expected/ideal start date for the successful candidate is May 12th, 2025, with an end date of August 1st, 2025 (12 weeks).WHAT YOU WILL DODonor Stewardship & Story

  • Review and analyze existing materials in the journey to identify gaps, outdated information, or areas for improvement. Review emails, letters, videos, and other materials and verify that messages are clear, engaging, and up-to-date, and identify any gaps.
  • Provide recommendations for refreshing or enhancing stories to better align with donor interests and motivations.
  • Work with our Communications team to identify new stories/content to leverage for donor stewardship, including newsletters and key moments (Father’s Day, Back to School, etc.)
  • Help design and build the Summer Supporter Survey in SurveyMonkey, ensuring the questions are clear, engaging, and easy to answer.

+ Collaborate with the team to refine the survey questions, ensuring they align with our organization’s tone and goals.
+ Test the survey on both desktop and mobile devices to confirm functionality and clarity.
+ Assist in scheduling and distributing the survey to supporters through email or other channels.
+ Monitor survey responses, flag any issues, and provide insights to help improve donor engagement.Direct Mail Fundraising

  • Complete an audit of the integrated direct mail landscape.
  • Research trends and best practices in the direct mail industry, focusing on innovations and strategies used in both nonprofit organizations.
  • Analyze how organizations are adapting to current challenges, such as postal delays, increased costs, and competition from digital channels.
  • Compile examples of successful direct mail campaigns.
  • Identify opportunities for our organization to enhance our direct mail program, including potential areas for cost savings or increased impact.
  • Present findings to the team, offering actionable recommendations to improve our direct mail strategy and align with industry standards.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Education in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field (or working towards).
  • Current student or a recent graduate.
  • Some related experience is preferred.
  • Must be between 18 and 30 years of age (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong interest in nonprofit communications and brand management.
  • Innovative, creative, resourceful self-starter; you enjoy challenging yourself.
  • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Hybrid work environment, requiring working in the office 2 days per week and working from a home office 3 days per week.
