Working with local team members and through collaboration with Aviva plc Group Audit colleagues, the focus of this role will be on supporting the delivery of Aviva Canada’s internal audit portfolio, from the planning and scoping stage through to reporting, regularly interacting with key collaborators and senior Aviva Canada employees and leaders. We operate as a collaborative team, deploying analytics and innovative solutions to help the Board and Executive Management and focus on what matters to Aviva’s success.

What you’ll do:
  • Reporting to the Vice President, Internal Audit, collaborate as a key member of the Canadian Internal Audit team, to help deliver the portfolio of audits included in the annual risk-based audit plan.

  • Contribute to annual planning activities in Canada and support ongoing reporting to executives and the Audit Committee.

  • Develop and deliver an audit opinion on internal controls through completion of the audit process. This includes planning (risk assessment, scoping, objective setting), fieldwork, reporting and follow up.

  • Bring to bear your internal audit experience, data analytic skills and background to innovate the ways in which the internal audit team works, operates and interacts with the business.

  • Take ownership for both own development, ensuring objectives are met and personal development plans in place and mentor / provide feedback to colleagues supporting audit delivery.

  • Contribute to (and where appropriate lead) wider IA initiatives and projects.

  • Manage the timely production of high-quality reports.








What you’ll bring:
  • Degree or equivalent experience and professional qualification preferred.

  • Professional audit, risk, accounting or actuarial qualifications or equivalent business experience.

  • 8 to 12 years of internal audit or risk management experience, preferably in insurance or with one of the big-four accounting firms.

  • Good knowledge of financial / risk / insurance related topics.

  • Experience in leading sophisticated projects/reviews, leading small-medium teams and negotiating issues with management.

  • Strong business insight and an understanding of the critical business issues facing insurance companies.

  • Proven strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution abilities along with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Experience managing senior level relationships.

  • Experience in the deployment of Data Analytics capabilities, solutions and innovative internal audit practices.
