Reporting to the Service Desk manager, this internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in IT procurement processes, asset management, and departmental operations within a dynamic automotive retail environment. The primary focus of this role will be to assist with IT equipment audits, manage the shipping and receiving of IT hardware, and contribute to the improvement of procurement workflows within the IT department. This is an excellent opportunity for a student looking to develop practical skills in a corporate IT setting.Responsibilities:

  • IT Equipment Audits: Assist in the planning and execution of regular audits of IT hardware assets across AutoCanada locations, ensuring accurate inventory records.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Manage the logistics of incoming and outgoing IT equipment to and from various AutoCanada locations, including unpacking, labeling, tracking, and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain organized and up-to-date records of IT assets, including location, status, and specifications, potentially utilizing inventory management systems.
  • Procurement Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the current IT hardware procurement processes and contribute to the development and implementation of more efficient workflows, tailored to the needs of a multi-location organization.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain clear and concise documentation related to procurement procedures, inventory records, and audit findings.
  • Communication: Liaise with IT staff, vendors, and personnel at various AutoCanada dealerships regarding equipment requests, shipments, and procurement inquiries.
  • Data Entry and Analysis: Assist with data entry related to procurement and asset management, and potentially contribute to basic data analysis to identify trends or discrepancies in equipment distribution or needs.
  • General IT Support: Provide ad-hoc support to the IT team as needed, as needed.
  • Adherence to Policies: Ensure all procurement and asset management activities comply with AutoCanada policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Information Technology, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive and problem-solving attitude.
