We think about the customer and make doing business with McCain easy.The Global Agricultural Team is seeking an intern to join us from May to August 2025. This internship will support the global variety development research project focused on optimizing the magnesium nutrient management for the King Russet variety under irrigated conditions. King Russet is a high-yielding variety exclusive to McCain, showing significant potential as a new cultivar. Communication with the breeder has indicated that King Russet has high magnesium (Mg) requirements. This internship will work on a trial that aims to understand these Mg needs and develop a management strategy for Mg application through both foliar and granular methods.This position is based in our Florenceville office and research fields and will work in the office five days a week.Accountabilities:
- Evaluate the performance of King Russet under different Mg nutrient regimes, focusing on yield, specific gravity, size distribution, tuber set, defects, and disease, all under irrigated conditions.
- Collaborate with the team to maintain and manage the trial, performing frequent observations to capture crop development and any occurring events and variations.
- Analyze results in correlation with the trial variables, drawing conclusions and making recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in Agriculture.
- Experience working in a research capacity within an agricultural setting.
Skills:
- Eagerness to learn.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong team collaboration capabilities.
