Application Deadline 04/13/2025Position SummaryReporting to the Manager Engineering Site Plans and Site Alterations, you will assist in providing technical support to the Infrastructure and Engineering Services Department – Infrastructure Planning and Development Engineering Division, on various types of land development applications and municipal infrastructure design.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties may include, but are not limited to the following activities:
- Assist with the engineering plan review and the processing of development applications (site plans, severances, minor variances)
- Conduct site inspections and fieldwork assessments (pre and post development construction)
- Investigate and track complaints on project and construction related activities
- Liaise with applicants, contractors and internal departments on development applications
- Create/update CAD drawing for City Standards
- Perform calculations and queries in a spreadsheet and database environment
- Assist in the research of emerging trends and industry practices associated with high-rise construction andsustainable land development
- Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed projects
- Other administrative duties as required
Education and ExperienceEnrollment in a Civil Engineering Technology program or a related disciplineRequired Skills/Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of municipal engineering design principles and construction methods
- Ability to analyze and read municipal engineering drawings with a good understanding of municipal infrastructure (i.e.; watermain, wastewater, storm sewer, roads, etc.)
- Proficient in AutoCAD, spreadsheet, database and word processing applications
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in an interactive team environment
- You demonstrate Richmond Hill’s corporate values of care, collaboration, courage and service
- Possess a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated)
- You will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire
- Possess your own CSA certified steel toe safety boots for fieldwork
