Continuous Improvement Intern
The Continuous Improvement Intern (Onsite at our St Thomas, ON office)Come build the future with us! We are looking for a dynamic team member who is passionate about finance, making an impact, and building a career with a leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of branded home improvement products.Reporting to the Supervisor, Continuous Improvement, you will join a dynamic team that will help mold your financial acumen.What will you bring:
- Registered in a co-op program at an Ontario-accredited university or college. Technologist / Technician / Engineer Program or equivalent.
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of sensors, PLC, and control systems required.
- CAD and modelling experience is an asset.
- Data analysis skills such as advanced Excel, Power BI, and SQL are considered an asset.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- High degree of initiative and motivation, and willingness to work proactively, either independently or within a team
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience gathering and accurately recording test data. Working knowledge of MS Word & MS Excel.
What will you do:
- Evaluate PLC and control systems for accuracy and improvement opportunities.
- Analyze data outputs from control systems and drive data-based decision making.
- Evaluates manufacturing processes through investigations of issues; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Facilitate waste reduction and efficiency improvements using QCO, EP, Standard Work and PPS techniques.
- Supports operations through facilitation of Continual Improvement projects, sustaining, improving, and streamlining overall processes within the organization.
- Oversee the upkeep of Industry 4.0 systems, standards, and documents.
- Utilizes root cause analysis system that focuses on team problem solving to resolve issues identified in design or manufacturing and supports the execution of corrective actions.
- Support department management in the identification of key success drivers and execution of improvement objectives.
