Plains offers one of the industry’s best formal training programs where high achieving participants may become eligible to receive an offer to join Plains upon graduation.Plains is currently looking to fill the position of Communications Intern to join our Employee Communications team for an eight-month term position beginning May 5, 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with proven design and communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments. - Write and edit news articles and other internal updates for the employee intranet and other internal communication channels
- Manage the intranet content schedule, maintain the associated calendar and lead content posting
- Support overall intranet governance and maintenance, including building, updating and optimizing pages, sites and content on the SharePoint-based platform
- Assist with filming and editing short-form videos
- Support the planning and execution of employee meetings and events
- Develop communication deliverables for corporate initiatives and internal clients , including but not limited to templates, presentations, talking points and event collateral
- Organize the library of corporate photography as well as attend events to take new photos to be included
- Liaise with team members and other departments as required to deliver on ad-hoc communication assignments
- Complete and present an assigned project
Other details:
- Minimum third-year student enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary institution, working towards a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or public relations
- Preference will be given to a student who will be returning to university to finish their undergraduate degree following the completion of this work term
- Both formal and non-formal co-op students are eligible to apply
- Previous work terms are considered an asset
- Interns must be able and willing to relocate themselves to Calgary for the duration of the work term
- Interns must be able to commit to an 8-month work term starting May 5, 2025 to be considered for the position; and
- Successful candidate must provide satisfactory references and complete a Criminal Background Check.
Qualifications:

- Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment and problem-solving skills
- Keen attention to detail, analysis and organization
- Proven ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and multi-task
- Skilled in simplifying complex ideas for a multitude of audiences
- Proficiency with MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook and Excel
- Preference for established knowledge and use of Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva
- Proven flexibility and agility to adapt to changing business conditions
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced team environment and under minimal supervision
