The Specialty HUB – Pharmacist position plays an essential role in the quality and safety of our patients’ medications. You will report to the Pharmacy Manager and will be responsible for providing specialized pharmaceutical care to patients receiving specialty medications, including biologics. Ensure safe and effective therapy for patients with complex medical conditions.
Drug Therapy Monitoring: Monitor patients’ response to specialty or biologics medications, assess adverse effects, and collaborate with healthcare providers to adjust treatment plans as needed.
Evaluate potential drug interactions with other medications or medical conditions, providing recommendations to minimize risks and optimize patient outcomes.
Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of specialty medications, ensuring proper storage, handling, and disposal in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Quality Assurance: Maintain accurate patient records and participate in quality assurance programs to enhance the safety and effectiveness of specialty medication services.
Continuous Education: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in specialty and biologics medications, attending seminars, conferences, and training programs to enhance professional knowledge.
Participate in the development and action of yearly competency performance work plan(s) and development action plan(s).
Provide leadership in the areas of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), including participate in HSE activities, ensuring employees are knowledgeable about and comply with HSE policies, procedures and legislation, assist in identifying unhealthy, unsafe situations and ensure corrective action is taken.
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSc. or Pharm. Licensed and registered with Alberta College of Pharmacists
A minimum of 1 years’ experience as a licensed pharmacist.
Experience working in Specialty pharmacy.
Proficiency and competence with Microsoft Office applications
Prior experience in a specialty pharmacy or healthcare setting dealing with complex medications is an advantage.
Administration skills, such as planning and organizing, resource management and the ability to set priorities and coordinate work activities. Should have a good understanding of word, excel and PowerPoint applications.
