This is part of an ambitious initiative to expand and enhance our multi-family offering in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and create the next generation of mixed-use urban communities. The GTA Urban Division has a large growth mandate that will be fueled by our current collection of 40 high-rise projects / multi-family developments within our GTA master-planned communities.Mattamy is currently seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Finance team for an exciting summer internship to begin their career with an industry leader while completing a degree. Through this experience, the student will be exposed to a wide range of accounting and reporting responsibilities, from supporting the month-end close process and reporting, to assisting with the quarterly project budget review cycle. Mattamy Homes is an accredited CPA Employer and is accredited to meet the practical work experience requirements for achieving your CPA designation.What you’ll do
- Support the month-end close process and communicate variances and drivers of performance.
- Prepare and record month-end statistical journal entries including adjustments to sales units, construction starts, and occupancies.
- Review & support the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process.
- Assist with the quarterly project budget review cycle by performing tasks such as refreshing the actuals database and setting up the excel pro forma models.
- Assist with joint venture reporting for projects that have a joint venture partner and have data integrity within the ERP system (Oracle’s JD Edwards).
- Take a lead role in project-based work to improve data integrity including building dashboards using PowerBI.
- Assist with ad hoc reports and analysis requested by operations teams in Construction, Sales & Marketing, Development and Corporate Office.
What you bring
- Available for a period of 4 months
- Working towards a Degree in Commerce, Finance and/or Accounting.
- Ideally working towards pursuing CPA designation in the future (Mattamy Homes is an accredited employer by CPA Canada).
- Proven academic success. Proof of transcripts required.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated individual who is highly organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to establish credibility and build relationships with people at all levels of the organization.
- Talented, high potential individual with the ability to learn quickly and get results.
