Status: Full Time (May to August 2025)
Position Overview:
The Children with Special Needs Coordinator will provide leadership and administration for the Children with Special Needs Sunday morning program. They will also administer and support Children with Special Needs at our summer day camp program and all summer programs/events.
The Children with Special Needs Coordinator will involve managing volunteers, developing and teaching curriculum according to the needs of the children, mentoring volunteers and working in a team environment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Give leadership and oversight to our Special Needs Program
- Coordinate volunteers and create a summer leader schedule
- Create a Bible curriculum for Children with Special Needs
- Study and prepare weekly lessons
- Make recommendations of special equipment or toys needed in the Special Needs classroom
- Lead the Children with Special Needs Sunday morning class
- Recruit one-on-one super buddies to support Children with Special Needs on Sunday mornings and at our summer day camp
- Support Children with Special Needs during our summer day camp and summer children’s programs/events
- Make recommendations of different ways we can support parents with Children with Special Needs in our church
- Assist and support all children’s ministries summer events
- Assist with Jr. Youth Premix (Overnight) and Jr. Youth Camp (Overnight)
- Other duties as assigned by Children’s Pastor
Qualifications:
- Deep and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ
- Servant heart and teachable
- Supports the Shared Mandate and Statement of Faithof The Peoples Church
- A passion to help all children discover Jesus
- Minimum 2 years working experience in a camp setting
- Minimum 18 years old
- Proven ability to supervise staff and campers
- Strong leadership, administrative, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Ability to plan, develop, organize and carry out camp programs effectively
- Team player with a positive attitude
- First Aid/CPR Training Preferred
Working Conditions:
- Vulnerability Sector clearance required
- Interact with others (children, parents, volunteers, staff) regularly
- Full time (May to August) – Sundays, 2 overnight weeks for Jr. Youth PreMix and Jr. Youth Camp, occasional Friday nights required
- Independent and teamwork, occasional work from home
