The ProgramThe Student Internship Program in Communications at NNCI offers students and recent graduates the chance to learn more about the pharmaceutical industry, our business areas and product portfolio. The selected candidate will have the chance to put theoretical knowledge into practice, while gaining industry experience and building an invaluable network of talented colleagues throughout the organization.The PositionNNCI is looking for a dynamic, motivated individual to join our team on a six-month contract as a Communications Intern to assist in our company’s communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of internal and external corporate communications, including PR and marketing activities, while working with a small team of experienced professionals. Here is a summary of some of the work the selected candidate will support:

  • Research and produce a wide variety of communications materials, supporting the work of the Communications team as needed.
  • Research and assist with the development of new ideas for web/social media content.
  • Draft and design/layout of articles and other content for internal audiences.
  • Organize aspects of internal events, including all employee Town Halls.
  • Review internal communications channels and develop monthly dashboards to demonstrate success and areas for improvement.
  • Develop internal newsletters and other internal content to foster employee engagement.

RelationshipsThe NNCI Communications team contributes to the Company’s business success and reputation. As a team, we bolster positive corporate reputation and drive business results. We advise and counsel on strategy and provide timely execution of comprehensive communications programs. We mitigate reputational and operational risk and engage and empower employees with information and the ability to share their stories.Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, the Communications Intern will assist the Communications team in implementing organizational and brand communications strategies. They will work independently and, in a team, to fulfill goals and initiatives related to programming and events.Physical Requirements

  • Based in our head office in Mississauga, Ontario.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently attending an accredited four-year college or university program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications or a related discipline.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary to effectively work with colleagues and stakeholders.,
  • Competent Microsoft Office Suite skills required and preferred skills in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Proficient in email communications, primarily Outlook.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume setting that requires a sense of immediacy, with demonstrated ability to manage competing demands, receive constructive feedback, and maintain adaptability and flexibility.
  • Strong organizational, time management and process/program management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task/complete competing priorities on time.
  • Firm grasp of social media tools and platforms, including familiarity with Twitter and Yammer. Understanding of the basic principles of public relations.
  • Solid understanding of Canadian media landscape an asset.
  • French language proficiency an asset.
