- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Work to high standards for quality assurance, quality control and data validation of for all geological data
- Engage with Engineering, Geology, and Mine Operations departments
- Assist with daily core handling functions (measuring, sampling, logging, photography, moving full core boxes etc.)
- Assist with mapping, chipping, sampling, grade control activities.
- Sample preparation and dispatching
- Digitizing maps, sections, historical information
- Accurate data entry into designated databases daily
- Daily reporting
- Prepare presentations and present findings to members of the Geology team
- Other duties as required
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
- At least one year completed in Geology, Earth Sciences or Geological Engineering
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Team player
- Possess a valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean record, comfortable driving 4×4 trucks
- Good sense of organization and attention to detail
- Leadership skills and comfortable working in a dynamic work environment with a willingness to work outdoors
- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Working Conditions:
- Rotation Mon-Thurs, 10-hour shifts
- Office, field, and underground, work environments
Accommodations:
- Accommodations are available in Matachewan at the Old School House, approximately 3 kms from the mine site.
- The Old School House offers an independent room, Smart TVs, Wi-Fi, room cleaning twice per week, and access to a meal plan (at own cost)
Physical Requirements:
- This position includes regular periods during which there is continuous physical activity (e.g. walking, standing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (50lbs)
- Frequent exposures to factors such as temperature variations, moving machinery, noise, humidity.
- Tasks can be repetitive.
