The Opportunity

  • Work Term Length: 12 or 16 months (preferred: 16 months)

Are you passionate about photonics and eager to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge optical technology? We are looking for a motivated Optical Engineering Co-op to support the development, testing, and optimization of advanced optical simulation tools and fiber optic systems. In this role, you’ll work closely with our engineering team to:

  • Enhance and develop optical design and simulation tools to advance our capabilities in optical engineering.
  • Perform fiber optic characterization and testing to evaluate key performance metrics and support product reliability.
  • Assemble and align optical modules with high-precision, contributing to our ongoing development efforts.
  • Support nano-imprint process development, gaining exposure to advanced fabrication techniques for optical components.

This position offers valuable hands-on experience in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, with opportunities to make meaningful contributions to high-impact projects at the forefront of optical engineering innovation.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Students pursuing a degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Gaussian beam theory, polarization, and optics fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python preferred) and an interest in improving the stability and maintainability of engineering tools.
  • Basic laboratory experience, with a strong willingness to learn new techniques and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with web-based tools and virtual machine deployment is a plus.
