Plains offers one of the industry’s best formal training programs in which high achieving participants may become eligible to receive an offer to join Plains upon graduation.We are seeking an 8-month, Human Resources Intern to join our Human Resources Team in Calgary, AB on a full time (40 hours per week), temporary term. This role will commence May 5, 2025 and will report to one of our Senior HR Business Partners.The successful candidate will participate in a variety of meaningful HR projects and activities that support our Canadian and US operations. Candidates should have an awareness of HR best practices and the technical skills to effectively assist with HR communications, policy research, policy writing, content management and documentation.Responsibilities:
- Assist with a variety of HR process improvement projects
- Participate in a variety of HR communication activities including program roll-outs, monthly leader newsletter, and the HR SharePoint/Intranet sites;
- Assist our Total Rewards team with employee wellness activities and projects
- Assist our Talent Acquisition team with recruitment including resume screening, analyzing video prescreens and booking interviews;
- Support process improvements for a variety of HR processes and practices;
- Gather and compile data to use analytics that support our objectives;
- Coordinate event and meeting logistics;
- Complete and present an assigned project; and
- Ad-hoc analytical assignments and reporting as required.
Qualifications:
- Successful candidate will be enrolled in a post-secondary bachelor’s program related to Human Resources, Business Administration or related;
- Preference will be given to a 2nd or 3rd year student who will be returning to university following the completion of this work term;
- Previous Intern/work experience is considered an asset;
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint;
- Interest in HR professional growth and development;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment;
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and on a team;
- Interns must be able and willing to relocate themselves to Calgary for the duration of the work term
- Interns must be able to commit to an 8-month work term starting May 5, 2025 to be considered for the position; and
- Successful candidate must provide satisfactory references and complete a Criminal Background Check.
