Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate student Electrical student for a paid summer Co‑Op for Summer 2026 at our Ottawa, Ontario office. The Co‑Op will run from mid‑May through August 2026. Applicants must have a graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible.

We will be accepting resumes through February 20, 2026. Resumes will be reviewed as received followed by interviews. Offers will be extended in the spring.

What You’ll Do

The Merrick Co-Op Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in electrical design. Interns will be exposed to tasks such as facility electrical power, lighting, grounding, fire detection, communication systems, security and access control. The position requires collaboration with other disciplines, interface with clients and contractors, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills, and ability to problem solve. Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality. Students who have recently graduated will not be considered.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation date after August 2026.
  • Knowledge of facility electrical and lighting design and/or power system design.
  • Currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate or technologist degree.
  • Pursuing a degree as an Electrical Engineer or Electrical Technologist with an electrical emphasis.
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Knowledge of power distribution design software (SKM, PowerTools, Easy Power).
  • Local candidates preferred.
